REPUBLIC – The Missouri Baptist convention will hold a youth evangelism conference January 16-17, 2022, at the Calgary Baptist Church here.

The event will feature Garrett Wagoner, who is currently the pastor of discipleship and spiritual transformation at Fivestone Community Church in Plano, Texas. Previously, he served for 10 years overseeing student evangelism at the Southern Baptist Texas Convention.

Pastor Chris Perstrope of Connect Church, St. Louis, with his wife Rebecca, will lead the service. The Collektive, from Kansas City, will also be performing.

The theme of the conference is “As we go”.

“Our desire is to help students understand that sharing their story and the story of God is a way of life and not just an event,” said Brad Bennett, director of Missouri Baptist Convention Making Disciples. “Inspire your students with relevant messages, equip them with practical workshops and send them to live an awareness-raising experience!”

“We will focus on three main points to help students understand how to share the gospel of Jesus Christ,” he added. “First by the power of prayer, second by the power to care for others as Jesus did, and third by the power of the gospel itself. “

“One of the most exciting parts of YEC this year is the outreach experience,” Bennett said. “We will be going to the Republic and Springfield community to put into practice what the students have learned. They will engage people with the ability to pray for any needs they may have. We will have care kits for those in need, and as soon as the opportunity arises, they will engage in a conversation about the gospel. While the students and their leaders are out, members of the Calvary congregation will pray for those who have been sent to the mission field. We will have a live stream so leaders can respond to different prayer requests via text message and celebrate while the gospel conversations are actually taking place.

“Our prayer,” he said, “is that YEC will be a spark that will spark movement across youth ministries, communities, schools and beyond ‘As It Goes”.

Registration is $ 25. Anyone who registers before December 4th will receive a FREE t-shirt. There will also be a limited supply of shirts for sale on the website. For more information or to register, visit: https://mobaptist.org/student-ministries/youth-evangelism-conference/.
