Woman leaving church killed on Mother’s Day in Posen – NBC Chicago

Police in the southern suburbs of Posen were looking for the fleeing driver who punched and killed a beloved mother and grandmother as she left church on Mother’s Day.
Annette Odneal, 62, died in a collision around 12:30 p.m. Sunday when a vehicle collided with her SUV at the intersection of 147th Street and Mozart Avenue.
Odneal’s almost 40-year-old husband OB Odneal said he was not with his wife when she attended a service at “Abounding Life: Church of God in Christ”.
Shortly after Annette Odneal left the service, according to village officials, a teenage girl driving a stolen car crashed into her vehicle.
“In my wildest dreams, I never thought my wife was dead, I might have thought she was in an accident, but dead?” No sir, âOB Odneal said.
A home security camera may have captured people assisting the driver, who police say was injured in the crash.
âHelp this family, you won’t want this to happen to your mother,â said community activist Andrew Holmes. “… And those individuals who were there who carried him. No need to run … There’s nowhere to go.”
Annette Odneal retired in August. She and her husband planned to travel and enjoy their retirement.
Mother’s Day will never be the same again, her family said.
âMother’s Day will always be a sad day,â OB Odneal said. “It’s the most painful thing.”
Anyone with information about the suspect is urged to contact the police at 708-385-0277.
