The Lewiston Church will host a service in Spanish on May 27

LEWISTON – A healing service, presented in Spanish, is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, May 27 at Holy Family Church, 607 Sabattus St.

Prof. Michael Sevigny, director of the Office of Hispanic Ministry for the Diocese of Portland, will preside over the service.

The theme of the entire gathering is healing, from the celebrant to the music to the attendees and the prayer teams, according to a press release from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland.

Masses in Spanish, organized by the Office of Hispanic Ministry, are offered in seven Maine communities: Brewer (St. Teresa’s Church, 425 S. Main St., every Sunday at 8 a.m.), Cherryfield (St. Michael’s Church, 51 Elm St., first Sunday of each month at 1 p.m.), Lewiston (Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, 122 Ash St., every Saturday at 6 p.m. and also broadcast live on princeofpeace.me), Pittsfield (St. Agnes Church, 238 Detroit St., every Friday at noon), Portland (Sacred Heart Church, 65 Mellen St., every Sunday at 1 p.m.), Sanford (Holy Family Church, 66 North St., Second and the fourth Sunday of each month at 5 p.m. and also broadcast live on stthereseparishmaine.org/livestreamand Waterville (Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, 101 Silver St., every Saturday at 4 p.m.).

Funded largely by the annual Catholic Appeal, the Office of Hispanic Ministry assists the Hispanic community living and working in Maine by providing sacramental preparation, including preparation for marriage and baptism; faith formation for adults and children; education on state social service support; and help individuals and families become more involved in parish life.
