Passion for playing Lee Day U-Church Friday

Back on the U-Church stage, Lee University will host the Passion for a Lee Day concert Friday at 7 p.m. in the Paul Dana Walker Arena.
“As is common practice here at Lee, we wanted to open this important weekend with an opportunity to pray together as a community of believers,” said Josh York, events director at Lee. “With hundreds of Lee Day guests from across the country mixed in with current students and community members, we couldn’t think of a better way to kick off Lee Day events than to come together as one body at the name of the Lord.”
Passion is rooted in the Passion movement, launched in 1997 by Louie and Shelley Giglio, with a mission to call on students everywhere to “live for what matters most”. The passion aims to glorify God by uniting students in worship, prayer, and righteousness to bring spiritual awakening. The group is currently led by Kristian Stanfill, Brett Younker and Melodie Malone.
The group has teamed up with worship leaders such as David Crowder, Matt Redman and Chris Tomlin to write, record and lead worship together.
Passion is known for chart-topping singles like “Build My Life,” “How Great Is Our God,” “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord),” “Even So Come,” and “God of This City,” among others. . The group has won four Dove Awards.
“Due to the pandemic, it has been three years since we were able to invite a guest artist to be part of the U-Church concert series,” York said. “We are thrilled to bring Passion back to campus to help reintroduce these concerts. The Passion team led us into worship for Lee Day 2018, and from that experience we knew they were the perfect fit to help us welcome everyone into 2022.”
