Obituaries of Margaret Klimczyk (1959 – 2022) – Mars, Pennsylvania
Margaret “Maggie” Klimczyk, of Mars, beloved daughter, sister and aunt died suddenly on Saturday April 2, 2022, after a brief illness.
Maggie was born on December 31, 1959, at St. Francis Hospital in Olean, NY, to Mark J. and Nancy Shearer Klimczyk. She was predeceased by both parents, her mother having died on January 4, 2022.
Maggie graduated from Olean High School. While there, she was a member of the OHS golf team and sang in the choir. She performed at many musical events in every county and state, and spent a summer touring Europe and singing in the Joseph Crupi Choir.
Maggie attended Wells College and graduated in 1981 with honors in the special field of history and public policy. Upon graduation, she received the Julia Taylor Martin Award for American History. While in college, she interned for Western New York Congressman Stanley Lundine. Her time in Washington led her to choose law as a hobby.
After applying and being accepted to several law schools, she chose Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. To help cover the costs of her law studies, she held several jobs at the university and in the city. Most notably, she was talking about the job she had taken on the pig farm to help cover the expenses. Maggie graduated from Drake University in 1984, with a double Juris Doctor degree and a Masters in Business Administration.
Maggie worked in Iowa for a short time after graduation before moving east. In 1987, she began her career as a lawyer with Chubb Insurance, which gave her the chance to work and see the world. In addition to working in several US cities, she has also spent time working in their offices in Canada, Australia, London and, most recently, Bermuda.
Maggie loved to travel and enjoyed her trip with St. John’s Parish in Italy. More recently, she toured Ireland with her sister. She also enjoyed eating at Beef-N-Barrel on her many trips to Olean.
Once Maggie’s mother moved from Olean to Pennsylvania, Maggie took a job with Chubb, working from home so she could spend time with her.
Maggie was a sports enthusiast from Pittsburgh. She has attended numerous Steelers, Penguins and Pirates games, in addition to a Super Bowl, Stanley Cup games and the Pirates pennant game in 2015. She has volunteered at US PGA events Men’s and Women’s Open at Oakmont Country Club, as well as MLB 2006. All-Star Game held in Pittsburgh. She also enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia.
Maggie was a philanthropist and enjoyed donating to various local charities, in addition to her church and other religious causes.
Maggie was always ready to help her family at any time. She will be sadly missed by her sister, Karen Klimczyk; his brothers, Tim (Leshel) Klimczyk, Tom (Debra) Klimczyk and Kevin (Amy) Klimczyk; his seven nieces and nephews, Justin Klimczyk, Christian Klimczyk, Tyler Klimczyk, Lauren Klimczyk, Alex Matthews, Jamie Klimczyk and Anne Marie Klimczyk; and two great-nephews, Davis and Cooper Matthews.
She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Robert P. Isaac Jr.
KLIMCZYK – The funeral of Margaret “Maggie” Klimczyk, who died Saturday, April 2, 2022, will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Ferdinand’s Roman Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township, with a memorial mass.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family at St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, NY
Arrangements are under the direction of MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.
