Northern Haiti isolated from COVID-19 outbreak
Haiti (MNN) – Variants of COVID-19 have been triggered a wave new infections in Haiti. The country currently has no vaccines with which to fight the virus. In fact, Haiti is the only country in western hemisphere without any vaccine.
Eva DeHart from For Haiti with Love says the epidemics have been concentrated in southern Haiti, far from the areas where they work. “You don’t just get on a bus and go to Cap-Haitien unless you really have a goal. Because it’s a six or seven hour drive away. Buses do not cross mountains very fast and stop along the way. And so even though they have some pretty cool buses now, the trip is still exhausting, and you really have to have a reason to do it.
For Haiti with Love provides medical care to Haitians in the name of Jesus. Recently, they have started to take this care in remote countryside. DeHart says children in these areas suffer severely from parasites. Even if they have enough food, they are not fed because everything goes to the parasites.
Fortunately, certain medications can solve this problem. Dehart says, “You bring what most of them think is a miracle cure. And you deliver it in the name of God. It’s evangelism at its peak because people feel better. They are renewed physically and spiritually when you leave the site.
