As we begin to see a light at the end of the tunnel that is the COVID-19 pandemic, many are still stuck in the thick of the financial woes caused by these trying times.

The Bayou United Methodist Church of India has launched a new effort to make things a little easier for those who continue to struggle.

“The scriptures say that all are invited to commune, so the Lord’s supper is that all are invited to this pantry,” said Rev. Robert Johnson, the pastor of the church.

The Indian Bayou United Methodist’s new pantry is called the Lord’s Supper and is open to anyone who needs it at any time.

“You don’t have to fill out any paperwork. You don’t have to register. It’s open to the general public and that’s why we did it 24 hours a day because some people have so much pride. that they don’t want to be seen standing in line for food, and they need it, “Johnson says.” Here’s an opportunity to come anytime. “

A group of high school worshipers came up with the pantry plan.

It’s the only pantry in town, and the kids hope the luckiest members of the community donate what they can to let those in need know someone cares.

“Even though we don’t know each other, we’re always here to help. You can always come and it’s like a symbol of hope, ”said a young member of the congregation.
